Chai-time is the perfect time for the whole family to gather, have a chit-chat while craving some yummy snacks!

A cup of masala chai and snacks are a great combination to start a day. The snacks accompanied with tea keeps the stomach full till supper or dinner.

There are some days, when you’re running late and don’t have enough time to prepare tasty snacks, then you can easily go with Khari biscuits or other savouries.

Nonetheless, we have come to rescue you from the repetitive snacks, by bringing 2 recipes, which will give you an escape from mundane breakfast.

    #1. Paneer Pakora

It’s an easy snack, with a crispy texture on the outside. It just needs a few basic ingredients, which you can easily spot in your house.

First, you have to coat the paneer with dry masalas including garam masala, chilli powder, carom seeds, turmeric powder, coriander-cumin seeds powder, chaat masala, dry mango powder, to give it a spicy taste.

Once the paneer gets coated, dip it into a gram batter consisting of gram flour, chilli powder, asafoetida, hot oil, turmeric, and a  pinch of baking soda.

Gently fry the paneer in the oil until it returns to a golden brown colour. Paneer pakora and tea get along well and hence is a perfect combination, which can be served with pudina chutney and tomato ketchup.

    Enjoy the dish!

    #2. Kanda Batata Poha

Maharashtrian style  Kanda Poha has always been lauded by the elders and youngsters. It’s such a wholesome, flavorful snack that can keep you full till lunch.

We all have been having the breakfast Poha since childhood, but Batawada or Kanda Poha is something different to try. It’s easy to make and adds a unique flavour to the dish.

Take a pan and add oil to it. Heat the oil and then add some mustard seeds and asafoetida, then saute for a few seconds on medium flame.

Once it starts crackling, add onions and let it cook for 1-2 minutes.

Potatoes are optional, if you like having them, then you can go with it, then add 3 tablespoons of water to prevent it from sticking to the surface, and then add salt and turmeric powder.

In the meantime, sieve the Poha and toss it to remove excess water from it. When the water gets drained, add the Poha, a pinch of salt, ginger-green chilli paste (optional), turmeric, sugar (to give a sweet flavour) and lemon juice to it.

You can garnish it with some coriander and lemon wedges. To add a little Maharashtrian flavour to it, you can add some peanuts, to get a crunchy and nutty flavour and can add some grated coconut to it.

I know it feels tempting and trust me, it tastes delicious too. You’re done with the dish! Serve it hot.

    The Takeaway

I hope you enjoyed the recipes! Try making it once, I’m sure you’ll love it!
